Amber Sollenberger Matthews
Amber Sollenberger Matthews, BA '14, has been working as a medical assistant at a Chicago Planned Parenthood clinic for the past several years. She has also hosted workshops on queer sex ed at the Center on Halsted and volunteers as a rape crisis advocate with Resilience (formerly Rape Victim Advocates). The concepts and skills she learned as Gender & Sexuality Studies major have informed all of these commitments and motivated her to advocate for reproductive justice in all her pursuits. Currently taking courses at Malcolm X College, Amber is preparing to apply to nursing programs this fall with the aim of providing abortion care and sexual health services to marginalized populations.
